Jimmy “The Greek”

Picks of the Week

jimmygreek2-e1454530416637

OK, so I had a bad week in Week 7 but who thought Blake Bortles could step in for Tom Brady and dissect the Bear defense in Chicago? And yes, I underestimated the previously winless Cowboys at home against Oakland but the Raiders had historically tormented Dallas with late game heroics and Cowboy meltdowns. I won’t make THAT mistake again.

This week we have a couple of dandies on tap as the Eagles and Cowboys renew their old NFC East rivalry in Philly. The two teams made a trade this week and the ‘Boys will be hoping newly and re-acquired S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix can pass along a few Eagle secrets and fill in for a suddenly deteriorating Reggie Nelson. That alone should make this game intriguing. The other game is a renewal of “Jesse Jackson” Night as both the Raiders and Bears are struggling. Lets get to the picks this week shall we?

DALLAS @ PHILADELPHIA (-6) If you don’t like this match-up, you don’t like ice cream. A resurgent Eagle team is coming off a 17-3 loss in Cleveland but make no mistake, this team has all the ingredients to make a deep playoff run. How Dallas deals with WR Julio Jones will go a long way in deciding this one. The Eagles also get back OT Lane Johnson, WR Jeremy Maclin and DT Jurrell Casey. Newly acquired C Alex Mack (85 Overall) will most likely take over for Jason Kelce giving the O-Line a huge boost of 11 Overal points.

The Christmas break could not have come at a worse time for the Cowboys this season. The team was sky-high and playing its best football in a Week 7 win vs Oakland. The team is hopeful Ha Ha Clinton-Dix will help in the short term as they have been hurt by big plays this year. When this team plays with calm and poise it has a chance and they are hoping that QB Andrew Luck can develop into a star now that the torch has been passed from Tony Romo. However, the team’s biggest stud sits in the backfield, HB David Johnson. If they can get him involved this team will be lights out. However, with little prep time and an Eagle defense overflowing with a lockdown secondary, yards and points will be hard to come by.

Jimmy’s Pick- Philadelphia -6  (PHI 24   DAL 17)

.

OAKLAND @ CHICAGO (-3.5) The Bears and Raiders have combined to lose their last 7 games and are in desperate need of a win. Make no mistake, this game is a “playoff type” game with the tie-breaker scenarios running rampant in this one. The Raiders will be without starting QB Drew Brees this week and many are wondering just who will start at QB? The youngest WR corps in the league cannot be blamed totally for ths teams offensive woes but Carson Palmer or Jameis Winston will have to summon some magic to win on the road…especially if the snow flies in Soldier Field.

The once vaunted Bear passing attack has sputtered for over a month and some are pointing to a stubborn Coach and a flawed philosophy that encourages football mayhem. The “out again, in again” status of WR Odell Beckham Jr. has not helped a team in serious need of consistency. As many warts as the Bears may have, I am not sure how a “Holiday Idle” Raider team will be able to waltz into Chicago and dissect the Bears like they did in Week 4. The Bears owe Oakland….I am giving away the 3.5 points this week…but I don’t feel good about this.

Jimmy’s Pick- Chicago -3.5  (CHI 27  OAK 19)
